Recently, a diner feasting on a 6,000 calorie Triple Bypass Burger at the famous Heart Attack Grill made headlines when he literally experienced a heart attack, sending him to the hospital. We all enjoy a good burger now and then, and you don’t need to sacrifice your health to eat one.

Ace Fitness has put together these tips and options for your next burger.

Spicy turkey burgers with pickled onions: Using turkey in the patty will give burger aficionados a substitute to beef that still serves up the delicious flavor they love, but has fewer calories, fat, and cholesterol. Also, turkey actually has more protein than extra lean ground beef.

Mediterranean portobello burgers: A great vegetarian option, substituting beef with a grilled portobello cap serves up a good amount of protein, while keeping the fat and cholesterol count low.

Smoky buffalo burgers: Buffalo meat is filled with mouth-watering flavor, but without all the fat found in traditional ground beef. This recipe also adds wild rice to the patty mix, which increases the serving size, adds in additional vitamins and minerals, but helps keep the burger lean.
