Experience with IUD for someone after pills OR w/ PCOS?

So my doc mentioned getting an IUD today. I have polycystic ovaries, and she my irregular period would come back. However, Metformin could help that. I'm already on 500mg of Metformin...but I don't know that it does anything. Any experience or changes w/ IUD for those w/ PCOS? Also, did anyone get an IUD after being on the pill?? Did you notice anything different w/ your body. Weight loss, perhaps ? :) Change in headaches? Sorry for the loaded question. Thanks!
