I am looking for some pros and cons of buying an extended warranty for my 2008 Jeep Wrangler. I have 300 miles until the standard warranty expires. I do, however, have a lifetime warranty that covers the engine, transmission, and drivetrain. A 6 year/70k mile bumper to bumper warranty is $1200. There is a $100 deductible for each time I bring the car in. I have 3 years of car payments left. Since the powertrain is covered, is this a waste of money? Or is it a good purchase because it includes rental car coverage and roadside assistance? your thoughts?

It all depends on your ability to handle issues. If you belong to an auto club, you already have roadside assistance. As you said, the major components are covered under the lifetime. Personally, I wouldn't buy an extended warranty, but the I have AAA, another car, and the ability to diagnose and fix almost anything that goes wrong. If you have alternate transportation and a friend who is a mechanic, I wouldn't spend the $. If not, I would. Simple
