I wish to extend my tv to another room, but keep the receiver box in its original location. What type of cable do i need, and can i extend the cable about 20-25 feet.
I need to maintain control of the tv. as I dont want the viewers to control the signal.

You ask this question but you can't be bothered to even look and see what kind of cable is back there now? Directv has a number of different receivers with a number of different AV connections. Use a longer version of the same cable unless you can to tell us what is there now.

As far as viewer control of the receiver... the remotes are IR so if the remote has a view of the receiver, it will be able to run the receiver. If there is a wall between the viewer and the receiver, the viewer will not be able to change anything even if they have the remote.
