I have a 2002 volvo s80 given to me by my parents that I just found out needs a little bit of work. I have money to put into it, but I don't want to put more in than the car is worth. The problems are:

- Timing belt needs to be changed. (yes i know this is EXTREMELY important on a volvo, I'd be doing this asap)

-Upper engine mount is loose, meaning i'd probably also need to replace the lower mount with it, not sure.

-The exhaust pipe is loose all the way down the car, but it just needs a small piece to hold it together. The box on the pipe is starting to rot, and i know I'd need to replace the whole exhaust if that rotted through. I believe that can be expensive since its German made.

-The Lower control arms on both sides. Its not bad, just a little play, but I also already put 4 new tires on and i don't want them to ware.(means wheels/tires are loose on rod) I'd also need new rod ends

-My back brakes and roters need replacement

-Oil leak in it, which is a small thing hopefully

-My left headlight is cracked, meaning i'd need to replace the whole thing.

Okay seems like a lot, but the car is free with 4 new tires on it. I'm looking for an estimate on the cost for all these things because i am not gonna put more money in the car than its worth. Thanks for the time!

-Timing belt service: ~$1k
-Mounts- $200 or 300
-exhaust- around $700
-brakes- $300
-oil leak, depends where it is coming from.
Whole headlight assembly is $300. But you can just get a lens off ebay for around $30.
This is all around what the dealer would charge. I just know prices of most of these things and I just add labor.
But keep in mind, if you take it to your friend the mechanic, you can save some serious money.
Hope I helped!
