I'm currently an undergraduate majoring in Medical Anthropology. Since declaring my major, I've grown a huge amount of respect and love for anthropology, especially cultural. I have read ethnographies from many major anthropologists such as Franz Boas, Ruth Benedict, Paul Farmer, etc. But I have yet come across any prominent African American figures within the discipline. I know that Zora Neale Hurston is a famous one but I am extremely curious about other "famous" African American anthropologists and the areas or the people group that they've studied. I tried to google search it but I was given nothing other than Hurston. Can someone help me out?
