My new computer case's front audio plug isn't working correctly. I'm assuming it's because it's partially broken or something. I just want to be sure it's that before I contact the case manufacturer asking them if they can send me a replacement front audio panel.
What happens is when I plug in headphones into the audio jack, sound is heard but it's muffled, as if my headphones were veiled by a sheet of cloth or something similar. I read on a tech forum that it is probably due to a broken ground connector causing the left and right channel to mix. I'm sure it's not the motherboard because the rear audio works fine. When I wiggle the headphone plug connected to the audio jack, the audio cuts off and comes back on if I hold it in place correctly but with muffled audio. I also tried configuring the audio in Windows and did a stereo test during which the left and right channels weren't distinct plugged into the front audio jack but when plugged in the rear, the channels were distinct. Could anyone confirm is that is the issue? Is the audio jack broken? Thanks.
