I don't think any true feminist in their right mind would "discuss" issues about the misinterpreted "wage gap" with you. But you did make me think of a good song by Justin Timberlake! Thanks.

From the detailed BLS report on the wage gap:

"by 2007, the raw wage gap had shrunk from 37.9 percent to just 21.5 percent.
However, despite these gains the raw wage gap continues to be used in misleading ways to advance public policy agendas without fully explaining the reasons behind the gap."

"There are observable differences in the attributes of men and women that account for most of the wage gap."

They admit that their study, like any study can explain most of the causes they are studying, but no study can explain every detail.

Michelle's response is accurate but misleading. It only addresses that there is a median wage difference between men and women, but omits that the reason has nothing to do with discrimination against women. (Feminists don't just claim women make less, but claim there is a wage gap which is women making less due to discrimination against women on the part of employers)

It's simple, if women want to earn as much as men, all they need to do is do the same work men do. Many women and their families however make other choices, and there's nothing wrong with that.

Certainly - childless women earn 8% more than childless men now and we need to find a way to get men's college grades up. This is particularly important in medicine which has a huge male drop out rate leading to 70% of qualifying doctors being female. In most first marriages now the woman earns more and this changes when children come along because it is still more often the woman who stops work or reduces hours. Men with children still earn more than women with children.

We should consider why men do not stay home with children more considering they have lower income potential. In studies 50% of men said they would like to be stay at home dads whilst only 10% of women said they would like their partner to do that. This can be tackled by getting past the gender role that men are measured by their success at work and women by their nurturing motherly skills. Women and men can both tackle this stereotype.

The "wage gap" is due to career and life choices. Women tend to enter/work in fields that pay less, and overall tend to work less than men. Also, just because men and women do the same job doesn't automatically mean they both do the same amount of work.

Feminists keep on complaining about "wage gap" because they are trying to dupe people into believing that women re being "discriminated" against. They want equal (or even superior) pay for less work.
