File Sharing Protocol for Home Network?

I want to set up a folder or server on my PC, much like a FTP server, but only so users on my home network can access it. I know XP allows for file and printer sharing but I want it so I can set a password so only some people on the netowrk can get on it.

You can set permissions for file sharing on all XP versions.
