Fixing my truck's gas gauge, resetting the floats?

My Ford's gas gauge reads empty even when full, has since I bought it (used). It's a Ford F250, 1992. I want to reset the floats to get accurate readings. How would I do so?
If I need parts, please list them and estimated cost. If it's just a quick, free do-it-yourself, all the better

sounds like you have dual tanks like mine does.i doubt its both,very rare.you probably have a wiring issue.i wouldnt doubt its the guage itself or something to do with the wiring going to it,not in the fuel tank.so for a price on fixing it and knowing wiring can be a nightmare,there is no way of guesstimating a price.
