Many of us use them, they are dotted around, sometimes used in the wrong context.

"sayings", metaphors for a scenario often used or miss used by people.

I cannot help, when seeing/hearing/reading a "saying", (especially when someone is using it to sell me something) but think of turning it around to make it completely pointless/worthless.

So this is the thread for "sayings" that you often hear and how much you love, hate, or missunderstand them.

I'll start off with:

"When you frown you frown alone, when you smile the whole world smiles with you..." "..except in the changing room showers".

Flipping "sayings"

I like to tell people that "I've got things to see and people to do."

Flipping "sayings"

"You know what they say - when life gives you lemons.."
"Kick it in the head and bury it alive, then go play video games."

Dont get me started...

Never look a gift horse in the mouth, but beware Greeks baring gifts

Flipping "sayings"

"A penny for your thoughts- and a nickle to keep 'em to yourself"

Flipping "sayings"

Early to bed and early to rise makes a man pee cats and dogs.

Flipping "sayings"

That's painful to think about, but quite brilliant nonetheless

"Curiosity killed the cat, but check out my horse. My horse is awesome."

Flipping "sayings"

When life brings you to your knees..

.. sweep the leg.

Flipping "sayings"

That's another feather in your bow/string in your cap.

Flipping "sayings"

Aikido twist on that - "When life brings you to your knees, switch to hanmi handachi waza."

Flipping "sayings"

When the whole world seems like it's against you, it may be time to consider that there may be something wrong with you and not the world.

Flipping "sayings"

You catch more flies with honey than vinegar. Why do you want catch flies again?

Flipping "sayings"

Tie down your haystack well and you need never fear the storm

It's not the winning, it's the taking part that counts.... apart from when you host the Olympics, then it's all about the winning.
