Gave bum $25 gift card, he complained?

i had a 'stroke of niceness' and i handed a bum on the street a $25 gift card to a local restaurant.i wasnt looking for a thank you but I thought he would for sure thank me and all that stuff.

to my surprise he yelled at me and threw it on the ground and said, "YOU EXPECT ME TO WALK 5 MILES IN THE OPPOSITE DIRECTION? DONT YOU HAVE ANYTHING CLOSER??!"

is this one of those instances where the bum is in the situation he is in not because he has to be but because he wants to be? it gives him an 'excuse' not to work?
 
Ungrateful piece of sh*t. I would have picked it up and tore it up in front of him and said loudly "I can afford to do this you ungrateful piece of sh*t what have you got? NOTHING" What a prick! He could walk 5 miles (it's not that far) or scrapped up some money begging for a bus or train...In Brisbane australia a begger could make up to $100 a day (a tv host dressed as a bum and wen't begging and made like 90 somthing dollars...)
 
no, nobody wants to be humiliated by looking homeless.

but i do agree it was a very nice thing to do and i would be upset,too.
 
I have had similar experiences. I gave one of those guys a hamburger and he complained I did not give him money. I had spent the last money I had on a 2 for 1 hamburger deal and meant to eat both, then gave the one to him. And he was upset I did not give him money. Stupid ingrate!
 
No, this was an instance when your common sense was severely out of whack - and instead of the "stroke of niceness" you thought you had, you had a stroke of "stupidity.".

How is it that you think that homeless person was going to get somewhere 25 miles away UNLESS YOU OFFERED TO DRIVE THEM?
 
This is why I stopped giving ANYTHING to ANYONE begging. I gave a dollar to this "homeless" person and he was so rude and nasty about it I have never given anything since. If they need help, there are places they can go to get it.

yesturday bums would accept anything they could get.
today they are chucking a tantrum over a free meal.

Once I saw some one give a bum a fast food meal. She set it down on the ground next to her and continued to hold up her sign asking for money. I figured she wasn't all that hungry. Since then I've always kinda looked at them as liars.
