getting a jeep inspected in Virgina if i live in Maryland?

I have a jeep Cherokee that we rebuilt and welded in new floor boards. The floor boards were not welded to the frame...so they wont pass us..We were wondering if we could take the jeep to Virgina. We do have a vacation home there but we live in Maryland......Please help! Thanks
 
If you went through that kind of trouble, then why not just weld the floorboards to the frame to make them happy?
