My dad has had his 1969 Volkswagen Bus since 1971, when my grandfather gave it to him. Its the love of his life. Over the years, the bus sat for a long time because the engine blew. He has since then replaced it and I know he wants to completely refurbish the bus back to new. (this looks similar to it: http://www.flickr.com/photos/roadsidepictures/3481921326/ ) The paint is faded, the leather upholstery is cracked and worn and someone stole the original emblem off of the front of the bus. I know nothing about cars, especially VW Buses, but I know the engine is probably the only thing that works. I would love to get him gifts this year for xmas that would contribute to the fun in rebuilding his love van. I tried to find emblems, but all I have found are cheap plastic or metal painted ones. I also tried to find leather refurbishing products, but it was all became overwhelming, not knowing how to compare each of them. Anyone out there able to supply links or lists as to what would be great gift ideas for a dad who loves his bus? I'm thinking any category, parts he may need, DIY paint? (not sure if that exists), Interior products to spiffin the van up, de-ruster on the hubcaps?? (not sure if that exists either)...I am open to suggestions.. All of you automobile connoisseurs probably now more about these VW's than I do and will have way better suggestions than mine :) Prices can go up to $400.00. Thanks!!

Where does he get most of his parts from? I would find out and get him a gift card.

your awesome for doing this 4 your dad.www.bus-boys.com www.bustedbus.com www.wolfsburgwest.com good luck too ya kiddo.

You can get new moonie hubcaps - those always rust - even here in socal. For a new emblem try west coast metrics -they have been around awhile and are good

or Wolfsburg West, but I found them a little pricey when I did this.
