Glossy framed televisions vs Dull finish?

I noticed that many of the televisions I looked at on display at Walmart had a glossy edge around the screen. Doesn't this distract from the television itself, when you can see reflections on the glossy area? I couldn't find a Samsung or Sony without a glossy edge around the screen, and I was told they are the better brands to choose from.
