I have a 10hp Tecumseh engine on a gokart and it used to run fine when cold but when it heated up while driving it it eventually just died, sort of like it lost gas. After replacing the spark plug it seemed to run fine for a few days. The problem started up again with a new tank of gas (i put in premium), except now it dies right when i hit the gas, otherwise it idles fine. The oil is fine. I asked a similar question a few days ago and got a answer about rebuilding the carburetor. Assuming now that compression is fine, what could be the problem, what goes wrong with a carburetor that causes this to happen? When replacing the spark plug the old one looked fine. Also i'm not sure what type of carburetor is on the engine. It has a choke but no primer, it doesnt look like your ordinary small engine carb. Also should i not use premium gas in this engine?
