I'm by no means new to mac, this one is gonna be my third. It's just I'm really getting into all of this photo and video editing stuff, and I'm just deciding the best setup for that. So basically, right now I have my macbook pro that I got last year in November ('09) with 2 GB RAM and 2.26 ghz processor. Recently, I downloaded the photoshop CS5 free trial, and quite honestly, I can only use it if it's the ONLY application open, or else it's just too slow to work. And, even doing something as basic as editing a movie in iMovie just takes forever and it just freezes and fails miserably. I'm going to be getting the Adobe Production Premium package deal soon, but I don't want to bother getting it until it's on a nice, smooth-running computer. And now, my parents have agreed to buy me a new laptop (hold your spoiled comments, I got accepted to the #39 ranked high school in the country) and then later the Production Premium for my birthday. I'm gonna be buying a 15'' MacBook Pro, but I don't know which set up is best, regarding the proportion of RAM and processor and which is more important. Simply put, just give me a good set up that wont get slow and will be able to do the work that's under or around $2150 (excluding the Premium package).
