I have tried making cinnamon apples twice now using the two most popular online recipes. The first time they turned out pretty good but not great, the second time too soft and the sauce too thin. Does anyone know how to make those so the sauce can turn out GOOEY, rich, and THICK yet the apples won't be totally mushy? For lack of a better example, I want to make them very similar to the apples Outback Steakhouse serves.

Ingredients
4 McIntosh apples, peeled and sliced (about 2 lb.)
1/2 cup firmly packed light brown sugar
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
2 tablespoons water
1 tablespoon butter

Preparation
1. Toss together first 4 ingredients in a large zip-top plastic bag, tossing to coat apples.

2. Cook apple mixture, 2 Tbsp. water, and 1 Tbsp. butter in a medium saucepan over medium heat, stirring occasionally, 8 to 10 minutes or until apples are tender.

APPLE CINNAMON COBBLER

2 white cake mixes, any brand
1 can apples
1-2 sticks butter, salted or unsalted
Aluminum foil
Dutch Oven
Cinnamon

Line the inside of the Dutch oven with foil, making sure it is covered completely. VERY IMPORTANT: Make sure you do this or else the pan will be very hard to clean and so you can get it out!!!

Put the white cake mix in the bottom of the Dutch oven. Spread it around so it completely covers the bottom. Sprinkle a little cinnamon on top of the cake mix. Put the canned apples over the top of the cake mix. Add a little more cinnamon on top of the apples. Add the second cake mix and cover the apples with it. Slice the butter and put it on top of the cake mix. Add a little cinnamon over the butter.

Cook until inside is warm and all the cake mix is not powder. The outside should be golden brown.

Enjoy!

APPLE CINNAMON PORK CHOPS

2-4 boneless pork chops (example: butterfly cut)
2 apples, peeled, sliced (Granny Smith are good)
1 can frozen apple juice concentrate
1 cup applesauce
cinnamon
nutmeg (optional)
salt and pepper
potatoes cut coarsely in chunks
1 heavy bottomed deep frying pan and lid

Cut the potatoes and set aside; peel and slice apples and set aside.

Heat the frying pan WITHOUT OIL (do not use oil in this recipe). Sprinkle salt, pepper, cinnamon and nutmeg on 1 side of the pork chops.

Place the seasoned side down on the hot pan and sear the meat for 1-2 minutes.

Meanwhile, season the side face up with salt, pepper, cinnamon, nutmeg. Flip the chops and sear the side you just seasoned for 1 minute.

Now add the can of apple juice and apple sauce, being sure to scrape loose the fried bits (fond) which is stuck to the pan - this adds extra flavor.

Add the apples and potatoes. Put the lid on.

Cook until apples and potatoes have become tender.
