Grad school: For a future elementary school English teacher?

Hello everyone, I am in my 3rd year of college, majoring in English. My dream is to be a children's/young adult author but I would also like to teach English to elementary school kids (Ideally, I'd like to teach them to read & write) but at the same time, I want to study Developmental Child Psychology, I like counseling & psychology but at the same time I'd love to go to grad school. Any hints or experience from elem. school teachers who have gone to grad school?
 
Finish your undergrad in English. Get your masters in elementary ed. Often you can take the state examinations for some subjects once you have any teaching certification, but typically you need a degree in elementary ed to teach it.
