GeGeGe no KItaro has been around since the 60's and is still going around!
The creator is a WWII vet!
It's about ghosts n ghouls!(yokai!)
I think soul eater is related but i'm not sure.

Soul Eater!
I just finished watching it, 51 episodes total for the anime. It's set in the Shinigami technical school for weapon meisters, and the series revolves around 3 groups of each a weapon meister and a human weapon. Trying to make the latter a "Death Scythe" and thus fit for use by the Shinigami, they must collect the souls of 99 evil humans and 1 witch.
