I was at the mall today, eating lunch in the food court. I was wearing a white-tshirt with a striped collared shirt over it, with the top three buttons unfastened. I was alos wearing jeans that didn't look very masculine. I was carrying an Aeropostale shopping bag.

About three minutes after I sat down to eat, a man that looked to be in his early thirties called over from the next table, "are you gay?"

I completely ignored him, but still I was really irked...should I have snapped back with something?
Why yes, now that you mention it :)

I get this all the time!

If you saw how I dressed...lol.

I don't blame people for looking or assuming I'm gay because I do dress pretty uniquely and definitely gay!

nohhh.
sorry, but i kno it will someday

i gay guy i kno was in the mall with his boyfriend and they were holding hands and then some creepy christian guy came and told them to repent or some shit, i think thats the only confronting a gay person experience ive ever heard

My reply would be "I'm sorry but is that any of your business?"

Seriously, freaking nosey people.

Your outfit doesn't sound particularly "gay themed". It's not like you were wearing a rainbow flag speedo or anything. :D

Ya that's happened to me twice. Believe it or not, the people that ask are usually gay themselves. Honestly though what str8 guy would care to know or even be curious. I wouldnt have snapped back though. Snapping back wouldve only shown insecurity thus proving him right. I mean next time that happens just be like.. "huh why".. People usually get thrown off by that and have nothing to say but "I just wanted to know".. Then u say "why do u care to know".. usually people shut up by that point.. Or u could say something completly random like "Your grandmas gay!!" lol tht will be a curve ball they didnt expect so they problly won't say anything back.. Unlesshere grandma is dead.. but if u wanted to end the conv fast then say no. Whether or not ur okay with lieing is up to u though.

Yes, yes. People have approached me about the way I dress. My mom does it almost on a weekly basis. She is yet to find out that I really am gay.

I dont ever ssay anything back to her. Just kind of be all like "oh well," and then she tells me about how its good for a guy to look masculine I usually dont say anything after that.

When my friends who know im gay say something I just say "well thats what I am"

I have only had two people who I dont know ask me if I was. I said no both times, although I wish I would have snapped back at them, but its too late now.

I f you want to snap back at them, I would suggest that, but its whatever you feel comfortable doing. If it irked you han, by all means stick up for yourself.

Well. If I were you, I would have thrown a fit with that "man" and said something like "sorry, but i don't date 40 year olds." he shouldn't be getting into peoples' business.

Are you kidding. All the guy's I see around in the summer were Capri pants. If someone didn't know they well girls clam-diggers in the 80's. Not to mention the ankle socks. If anything you must find it hard to tell who isn't gay nowadays and all guys dress feminine..except me...

well, I don't know about the "gay-themed" clothing. It sounds like you are good dresser.

But for someone to just blurt that out, man that is odd. I mean, I wouldn't blurt out to someone "are you straight" That guy just seems like an asshole, a homophobe, or a cruiser.

Keep dressing nice.

Edit: Why did I get a thumb's down?

Yeah people I don't know ask that all the time..... get's kind of annoying

I guess what i wear does look kinda TOO fashiony
