Has anyone used Dermalac for paper thin skin?

My mother has asthma in which she takes steroids and other medications for. The skin in her hands have become paper thin and is easily torn. Her hands are covered in red stains which I believe are blood behind her thin skin. Her dermatologist recommended a product called Dermalac followed by essential A oils and said it could take a year to work. It cost around $125 a month. I was wondering if there is a generic form or if the stuff even works at all.
