So, I've been told that I have acid reflux disease. I found this out about 3 years ago and nothing has ever helped. I take prilosec 2 times a day, which gives me some relief, but I'm sick and miserable too much of the time. I just want to have a normal lifestyle and not have to worry about my stomach hurting all the time.
Last time I saw my doctor, which was about a year ago, she told me that the next step would be to get a gastroscopy (where they put that camera down your throat to look in your stomach)
If they see that I have a problem with the lower esophegeal sphinter, I guess there is some kind of surgery that can be done to fix that.
Is there anyone who has had this surgery or knows some one who's had it and can give me some information about it?
Also, I don't have medical insurance at the moment, so generally how much would it cost just to see a specialist and have the gastroscopy done?
Thanks!
