having a problem with my 2001 ford zx2.......?

the other day it stuck in park. i finally got it to go in gear, but now when i turn the ignition off, the radio and everything stays on and the key is stuck. I have to pull the battery cable off to keep the battery from running down. What could have caused this and about how much damage to my wallet am i looking at?

Sounds like it might be an ignition switch fault. as far as cost goes, you need to get an estimate from local shops as due to labor rates and parts price vary from state to state.
