It may be thrush which is unpleasant but can be treated with tablets and a cream. I've had thrush several times and it's not nice, but it is easily cured. You can buy a cream over the counter at the chemist, but it's better to see a doctor/GP. You can ask to see a female doctor or even the nurse if you want.
