Help in rookie strength build up?

Could someone give me tips in regards which exercise should I do to build my strength. I don't have enough time to go to a gym and the last time I did any exercise was almost 5 years ago, so I am really out of shape. Luckily were I work now they have a treadmill and a weight lifting bench. Any and all advise will be appreciated. Please also let me know what diet should I have or any good protein shake. Thank you
