This will take less than 2 minutes to read, and I would greatly appreciate it:
My 4 year old Lab stays outside. He has a dog house outside on the porch, and he does sleep there at night. My household is asian, apparently, so my parents will NOT allow my dog inside. I know this sounds cruel, but I try to give him attention, but I have school, sports, friends to be with on weekends, etc. I feel like I don't spend enough time with him, and I can't take him on walks because he has hip dysplasia. We have a BIG backyard for him, but I really want him to be able to stay indoors. He is 100% potty trained, and sometimes sleeps in the gym room when it gets below 40 degrees at night. We have a big house, but when he comes inside there are many problems. Some are:
- Terrible shedding
- Drooling
- Hyper
- Eats my shih tzu's food from its food bowl
- Rips up my shih tzu's fleece toys
- Runs out the front door when you open it
- Tears up furniture
- And once he's inside, its nearly impossible to get him outside
Please DO NOT tell me to give him away, because I REALLY do love him a lot. He is a VERY sweet dog, andI really wish to spend more time with him, but I am very busy with my own life at this time. I'm 14 years old, and I want him to be able to stay inside, but my parents are asian, so they will Not allow it.
How can I at least try to convince them to let him remain indoors? He gets along perfectly with my other dog, but he just steals his food and toys. Thank you so much for reading all of this!
Ok, I am NOT going to rehome my dog. The shih tzu is only allowed inside because he doesn't destroy the house. I know this sounds "racist" against the dogs, but I want my big dog to stay inside.
The shih tzu comes inside, but he usually stays and sleeps outside.
