Help me (regarding getting video off of DVDs and Adobe Premiere)?

I like to make videos and do editing, but I have one question: If I own the DVDs of a show, is there any way I can either save them onto my computer or somehow get footage off of it to use in a fanvid, etc? I have Adobe premiere elements as well as the windows movie maker thing.
