I just got a dog, 6 months old shichon. He is extremely shy. if you ask him to "come here" and like pat your legs, he just backs away and hides in a corner or runs in the opposite direction. He refuses to take treats to reward him for good behavior. like, he went potty outside and i was going to give him a little bit of hot dog, and he wouldn't touch it. if you try to pick him up, he will run and hide, especially under beds, benches, couches, tables, etc. but if he cant run, he will just cower and try to make himself heavier and hard to pick up.
but, if you do get him, he will sit on your lap for hours.
but he does jump into bed with me and my other dog, and he rolls over onto his back to get his belly rubbed and if he is around other people (especially men) he will run and hide behind me.
I'm really confused about what to do with him, because of the completely different ways he acts.
help?
