Help My Car Has Been Sitting About 5 Months 10 Points?

okay I have a ford explorer that I have taken care of and for money reason I had to take my car off that road for about 5 months from May till now. I never started over the car over the past 5 months and when I parked the car it was almaost out if gas on the red E line. Today I went to start the car and it took a few tries for that car to turn over and it did and it sounded very lound and rough and went to move the car I put it in reverse and it had a little kick back. I was told to fill that gas tank of I know that much and to get some transmissions fluid is this normal for a sitting car I dont have much money what can I do please help???
