i need help on a persuasive essay about the bad things of hunting. i just need a few topics such as one that i already have, "hunting messes up ecosystem", w/ supporting details. prohunters feel free to speak up. i do need the opposing point of view

I live in Alaska - meat in our local markets is expensive and not the best quality. What they put out for us in the market - would probably be used for dog food in Seattle and they still expect us to pay 4x as much, I hunt to put food on the table for my wife and kids.

In areas of Alaska where lack of snow has prevented hunters and trappers from going out - we get outbreaks for rabies. Fox are the only animal than can contract the disease and somehow keep it dormant for a year or more and not die - yet remain carriers and spreaders.

A portion of $$ from all hunting licenses and tax on guns and ammo is what pays for all the wildlife animal research in this country - and - each year 110,000 acres of wetlands and wildlands is purchased from $$ from the same licences and taxes to set aside land that will never, ever be developed.

Money given to Defenders of Wildlife and other organizations - not a dime goes to animal research or new habitat. It all goes to run their corporate machinery - lawyers and publicity - not a cent to relocated a single animal, not a single dollar to buy and preserve land. Last year Defenders of Wildlife spent more than $6 million dollars to advertise the non-killing of 8 wolves in Alaska. That amount of money could easily have paid to live trap these wolves and buy 100 square miles of terriroty to put them in - or - for $125,000 to pay a zoo to take care of them for the next 20 years! All that money went to lawyers, fat cat lobyiest, and tv and radio executives to push ads. Not one cent to the wolves......... and folks are still lining up to shell out big $$ so DOW can do it again.

Hunters can only hunt animal popuplations with sustainable numbers. And sustainable numbers only happen when populations are researched, documented, land set aside and someone is keeping an eye on the game animals If it were not for hunters - nearly all the wildlife in America would be gone - like the Condor - the government isn't going to do this until maybe only a handful of some population is left.

You may not like hunting - that fine. I am also a professional wildlife photographer and frequently infiltrate caribou herds in summer to take pictures. They are a wonderful animal - I really enjoy being around them. That's why I spend time at the shooting range and teach shooting classes - so other hunters will get a quick clean kill and the animal will not suffer.

The bottom line is the millions of dollars paid for by hunters is what will keep these animals alive, healthy and on land for your kids and grand kids to enjoy.

You could start by taking about how terrible it is that we keep deer populations in check, when it would be so much more human to let them over-populate and die of starvation, or diseases.

You could talk about the billions of dollars spent by hunters every year, and how worthless that money is to the economy.

You could also talk about the barbarian hunters who fund, and head hundreds of organizations throughout the country, dedicated to preserving habitat for the wildlife. We all know the ecosystem would do just fine without them....it would just be doing it on a smaller chunk of land.

Good luck with your paper, glad to help you out.

My advice kid delete this question. You are really going to start something. The only bad things about hunting is what the sensationalists in the media dream up. You have been had, in reality there are only good thing to say about hunting. Animals raised for meat are subjected to a horrid life, and death. Wild game gets to live freely, and does not know what will happen. Hunting raises billions of dollars to fund conservation efforts and all hunters are conservationists. It is also a valuable management tool to keep the herd healthy. If you have questions message me if you want to sling insults grow up.

You intend to state that "hunting messes up ecosystem"? So essentially you intend to lie? My advice is don't bother asking here. Make the whole thing up. That would fit with your apparent level of integrity.

when all the food has disappeared when there's more droughts and the bees disappear so there's no fruit, or pollination and all the jobs are lost , from sending them over the border
then you can thank all the people who are opposed to hunting because it messes up the ecosystem
while you starve to death

" Hunting is Fun and Enjoyable; Killing is neither Fun or Enjoyable."..." Society will forever judge Hunters by their Compassion for the Animals that they Hunt for Food & Sport for themselves, family, friends, and fellow Hunters.".. All Life is precious to us True Hunters.* No, Hunting should never be Banned or Outlawed, it would be Destructive for the AnImals, Economy, Environment, Ecosystem, and Employment, Hunters*

An opposing point of view to hunting messing up the ecosystem is this:

Throughout history, the population of human beings on this planet has increased steadily. In very recent history, the rate of increase has been quite rapid. As a result, humans have found it necessary to destroy wildlife habitat in order to build homes and cities to accommodate their growing numbers.
Until quite recently (the last 50-75 years) the killing of what were considered dangerous predators such as wolves, bears, and mountain lions, went hand in hand with man's move into former wildlife habitat. It was though that such animals might attack humans, so they were killed.
As a result of the combination of the reduced number of predators and the reduced amount of habitat, the population of animals such as deer has risen past the point of carrying capacity of the land.
If these animals are not hunted, their numbers quickly grow to the point that they exhaust the available food resources, and they begin to suffer and die of starvation and disease.
Therefore, hunting has become a necessary means of population control. Unless mankind is willing to reduce it's own population, to stop rampant outward growth of cities, and to reintroduce predators into the ecosystem, hunting will always be required as a means of population control of wildlife.
What I have typed here are my own words, composed just now, and not copied from anywhere, so feel free to use what you wish.
