I have a Directv R15 receiver. My services were currently disconnected and during that time I disconnected some cables to tried to connect a regular uhf antenna in the meantime to get local channels. Now that my services and back on, I connected the cables back and the receiver is working properly. The only issue I'm having is that while I'm recording one program it will not let me change it and watch another one anyone. It gives me a message saying that something is currently recording and I have to stop the recording to change the channel. I tried calling the Directv technical support but after 30 min were unable to help me out with the problem so I have to wait a couple of days for a technician so come over. They said maybe the cables in back on the receiver were connected back improperly but there is only two different scenarios to connect them wrong. I switched the cables but either way, I'm still having issues with recording. If anyone can help me in the meantime with this issue, I would really appreciate it. I just hate that while Im recording a show I cant change the channel.
I have also checked both satellite inputs in back on the receiver and tried resetting the receiver with the red reset button but no fix yet. I also switched both satellite inputs on the receiver but when I do this the satellite doesn't get any signal after resetting so there is only one way for it to be hooked up.

In order to be able to record..and then watch another movie..is done while having 2-tuners available..
The DirectTV Box has a tuner..and your TV Set has a tuner..
There is usually a Channel chosen that is neutral..like Channel#3/
===
Then there is a setting..that denotes the choice=Channel#3 or #4..
===
The DirectTV Box would need to have the Menu looked at..for Recording settings..
What is available..??
I would look for Record Channel..Viewing Channel selections..its also called Pass-thru/
===
Requires 2-tuners to choose from/
The recording selection..and the viewing selection..
It should be shown in the DirectTV menu..and shown in the manual.

Make sure both satellite inputs are properly connected to the receiver. Once you confirm that, if you are still unable to record while watching a different channel, open the small access panel where the card is. You should see a red button there. Press it to force a system reset. The receiver should reread its setup and work properly now.

first there has to be 2 lines coming from the dish, trace lines from wall to tv, make sure both lines go to satellite 1 and 2 . After checking, go into your menu for setup, check signal on both satellite inputs. if you have both then push reset button.
