We in live in a wonderful, beautiful country. The United States is filled with culture and diversity, but sadly it wasn’t always like this. There was a point in our nation’s history where different cultures were not welcomed nor tolerated. The United States was once filled with peaceful people we call “Indians” who native people to this land. In the early 1600’s when the Europeans first encountered this land they made enemies with the “Indians” and wiped out a majority of their population with the new diseases they brought over from Europe. Shortly after, the Europeans realized that they could grow crops to stay alive but they did not want to work and did not have time. People had the idea to bring in family members to help with the field work, when that didn’t work they thought about another idea, which was indentured servants, who seemed to work out. Until Europeans grow greedy and indentured servants turned in slaves. Through the idea of coming to a new world and starting over and getting rich along with the different views of culture and through law making slavery was made legal in the United States.
