Message: <blockquote data-quote="bec" data-source="post: 2476008" data-attributes="member: 214895">i have a teac portable dvd player that i bought for my daughter for the car. it has a usb slot in it... i download alot of movies for her and thought it would be a great idea to get a portable hard drive and then plug the portable hard drive into the usb slot in the portable dvd player and then plug the portable dvd player into the tv so she can watch all her movies on the tv.however, when i plug the portable hard drive into the usb slot in the dvd player, it reads that there is a usb plugged in but it says "the usb is empty" why is this? i have put a USB stick in there before and played movies off it on the dvd player so why wont it play the movies on my hard drive?  is there anything i can do to make them play?the portable hard runs off power from the wall so it wouldnt need power from the dvd player would it?</blockquote>
