because the director of these new bond movies has decided to turn the bond character/storyline into action based, instead of a plotting and gadget using spy like the originals.
 
...other Bond franchise movies? Hi I love all 007 franchise movies & I have them all on Blu-ray disk. Anyway I like Craig guy as a Bond but what happen to those gadgets?
 
Daniel Craig stinks as James bond! why give those cool gadgets, when even the writers want him to get killed....
 
More realism. Bond should be about Bond, not the toys. The other movies relied too much on gimmicks and gadgets, and not so much on the character. I'd rather have the newer version.
 
Casino Royale is the first story of James Bond, before MI6 became glorified and rich with gagdets and toys. Quantum of Solace is a direct story-line sequel. They are still poor, hence all the Nancy Drew tactics of tracing cell phones and using Dan Brown-like clues to figure anything out.
It's the start of Bond's career as a double-o.
The gadgets will come in later, probably in the fourth movie or so.
For now they can only afford a tracking device in CR and car chases in QoS.

Craig Bond is a reset Bond. The franchise has redefined spies into a more action oriented pace and the franchise reached a stand still. people don't watch it because it's a great spy movie, they watch it because it's just another bond movie. They didn't really do much better with Craig since they followed the other spy movies, but they're getting better from the brosnan stuff.
