There are higher incidences of prostate and thyroid cancer, as well as multiple myeloma, among rescue and recovery workers who inhaled fumes and dust following the World Trade Center terrorist attack, researchers from the New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene reported in JAMA (Journal of the American Medical Association). No statistically significant increased rates were found for all cancer sites combined, the authors added.
