I had an old DVD that had s-video (and so did tv) so had everything hooked up through stereo ok (had to tweak a couple of things like to use DVD as cd, had to have tv on switched to input 1 or 2 just like if I was playing a DVD, but had to turn sound down on TV all the way, and up on the Receiver then was ok). BUT DVD player broke so now have one that does not have an s video hookup. I understand that the HDMI can't even be utilized so that is why I have N/A listed in (). I think what keeps screwing me up here is trying to figure out if I have to route through converter box or just leave it hooked up directly through TV, but there are only so many input/outputs which is why I went and got a A/V switch/selector but I am not even sure if I need it or not. I feel really stupid because I should be able to figure this out myself. I think my brain is sort of like mush or in a fog right now cause my Mom just died recently so having a hard time concentrating. Any help would be appreciated ! Sorry this was kind of a long winded.question.

[QUOTE="favoritecolorclear, post: 2610267, member: 886500"] ...player to/thru stereo reciever? I know, I know...I should have an HDMI T.V. but I don't so let's just move on. Here is what I have to work with: TV has: 1 A/V output (RCA) Front panel 1 A/V input (RCA) Back panel 1 S-Video input (N/A) Back panel 1 Antenna /Cable Back panel Converter Box: 1 A/V input (RCA) 1 Antenna output 1 Antenna input DVD: 1 A/V output 1 Component output 1 Optical output 1 HDMI output (N/A) 1 LAN output (N/A) Stereo Receiver: HDMI outputs (N/A) HDMI inputs (N/A) 1 Component Output 1 Component input w/optical 1 Component input w/coaxial 1 Video input w/coaxial 1 Video input w/optical 1 A/V (RCA) input 1 A/V (RCA) output 1 Monitor output 1 Audio (only) output (R & L) 2 Audio (only) input (R & L) CABLES/CORDS/ETC ON HAND: 2-in/1-out Composite A/V Switch/Selector: 6 A/V cables (RCA) 1 Component cable (R,B,G/W,R) 1 S-Video cable (N/A) 1 AUDIO (only cable) 3 coaxial cables 2 video (only) cables Basically what I want to accomplish here is to run everything through the stereo. I don't care that much about listening to the television/DVD movie through the stereo, but I do want to be able to utilize the DVD as a CD player hooked up to the stereo.
