Horror/Thriller Book Recommendations?

Hi! I really want to read a good, scary book so I have two questions:
Is The Exorcist scary? The book by William Peter Blatty, I mean. I liked the movie but it wasn't scary for me, is the book scary?
And does anyone have any recommendations of great horror or thriller novels (or series) they have read?


I guess I just want to scare the heck out of myself, and I can never find a good read if I'm the one searching.

The Tommy Knockers by Stephen King. And most of his I refused to read after dark.
