How am I suppose to use my SIM card on a nokia phone?

Ok, so my friend sold me a nokia cell phone. The phone work without SIM card. So i put my SIM card in so I could use it as my phone but i don't know how to enable it. help please

By the way my SIM card is from Videotron ( Canadian, Quebec company popular over here )
 
Hi yes sure you can freely use your Nokia phone with videotron sim card only if the nokia phone is unlocked one .Else if the Nokia phone is locked to some other network provider in other countries then you can't use it with any other GSM sim until you unlock it .You can easily unlock your Nokia phone using sites like Unlocking4Free.com they are generating network unlock code for some older mobile models at free of cost ..You first check that code is available for your mobile model ,country and network provider .If yes then unlock your phone and freely use it with any GSM Sim ...
