How am I supposed to hold/pick up a toad?

So if you read my other question you would know that i found a toad in my backyard, got proper household environment for it and now its in my room and all set up.

i was able to pet my toad but i don't know how i am supposed to pick it up and hold it.

i know you are to wash your hands before and after touching the toad but is it true that people actually burn frogs and toads and that rarely it can hurt you but i do not want to harm the toad by touching it somewhere i shouldn't or holding it the wrong area. help me please.

Pick it up under its front legs. Don't squeeze.
Once you've got it picked up, place it in your hand or on your lap. Try not to be too far off the ground. If he jumps, he won't die but he might get hurt.
