Are they really less likely to break.....

My friends who are police all do boxing, the Marine Corp Martial arts program has boxing punches, the self defence taught to soldiers in WW2 had boxing punches, Geoff Thompson says boxing alongside a grappling martial art is best for self defence, bouncers have told me the same thing..............

Boxing is good to fight against thugs in the street. But it is terrible to got against thugs with weapons and guns with Boxng.Obviously a punch is not going to win against a baseball bat hit.
Also boxing relies only on punches.Martial Arts like Krav Maga uses Elbow,Knees,Grappling,Punches and kicks.
In Martial Arts you still can whoop armed thugs butt!In Martial Class they teach you how to fight someone who has a gun.Boxing pucnhes are powerful but tend to be slow.Heres are some very informative video of some martial moves so you can practice.Martial Arts has been aroun for thousand of years.Remember that.=)

Both Karate and Boxing are only as good and useful as the people doing it .

People vary in skill . I have seen some crappy boxers and some brilliant boxers , some crappy Karate practitioners and some excellent ones who are not to be messed with.

A "karate' punch is weaker mathematically in terms of PSI due to the nature of the punch itself. The turn from chamber position at the right time may be lower, but it's the rotation and counter rotation that cannot be "stomached", as often demonstrated by krav maga experts.

Either way, if your on the street, you often won't be in the situation to do much besides what's already in your muscle memory, but it should matter very little as if you are trained in any style, you should have the advantage hand to hand.
