My grand am is wayy past its prime. It needs a new torque converter, it idles too high, it has transmission problems, I smell gas from the air vents, it doesn't get near the gas mileage it's supposed to... whatever I could go on for days about its problems.

I'm not a very convincing person but I want to convince my dad to cosign for a new car for me before I'm done break and go back to college in 2 weeks. I've almost got him convinced, but I'm completely out of ideas. I need him to cosign because I need to stay on my parents insurance and I don't have enough credit built to get a low interest rate. I found cars that the payment will be low enough where he'll be spending less money than he is now, but he wants me to drive my car until it dies. I'm home now and I live 3 hours away from him when I'm at school, so it would be an inconvenience for both of us to wait. I don't feel safe at all driving it and I'm spending so much money on gas and its not worth it. My car will cost at least $6,000 to fix and my dad doesn't want to put more money into it because he knows its beat. The cars I'm looking at buying are used Hondas and Toyotas between $4000 and $8000. Any ideas on things I can say to convince him?

Tell him that if he doesnt get you a new car that somethin could happen and your car could die on the freeway and what not... definately use all the ands ifs or butts
