other cadets? I start Army ROTC next fall as a college freshman and i have a hard time not laughing at other people getting chewed out. What can i do now to help prepare me for the fall.
yeah my friend, I went through the real army, and later tried out ROTC for the financial incentives. ROTC is the biggest joke ever. You won't be a soldier, you'll be a cadet. The last thing you need to worry about is anyone getting all hard core on you. lmao
First of all, ROTC and "chewed out" are sort of mutually exclusive terms. In the event an ROTC instructor were to speak firmly to another student, I would hope you would have the common courtesy and internal discipline to sit or stand there with your mouth shut, avoiding any idiotic grins or guffaws. If you can't seem to find your way clear to exercise that small amount of courtesy, you have no business even considering being a leader of men in the officer corps.
Keep in mind that this is ROTC you are talking about and not basic training. ROTC does not have drill sergeants, nor do they yell at you. For the most part, ROTC is what is known as a "gentleman's course" meaning that they treat you like the adults you are (or should be). Unless you are going to a senior military college (VMI, Citadel, A&M) or the USMA, then odds are there will not be any yelling at all.
