I have a '96 Grand Cherokee that has some electrical wiring problems.
The dash lights are real dim when I turn the headlights on. They cannot be adjusted with dimmer switch. Sometimes they will brighten up when you are driving.
Now, the stereo speakers are also giving me trouble. They work sometimes, sometimes they don't.
This morning I went to put gas in vehicle for my son to drive to school.
The stereo was working fine, but the odometer light kept flashing, the overhead gas mileage indicator was flashing, and the rear tail lights were on. I didn't check to see if headlights were on. I didn't have light switch turned on. I turned ignition switch off, and came inside. [tail lights went off then]
When my son was leaving for school, I went outside to see what happened when he starterd car, and to make sure brake lights were working. Tail lights were not on, odometer light wasn't on, and the overhead gas mileage indicator wasn't flashing. But, speakers weren't working now.
It seems that either opening or shutting drivers door or something is starting to short everything out. I really don't know. Can someone please help me figure this out so I can fix it?
Thank-you,
Keith
