I have a 1 year old Golden Retriever that digs no matter what I do. I have tried long walks/runs before leaving her alone, spraying that "No Dig" stuff, putting her poop shallowly buried in her holes (but she also loves to eat her poop so it's just more incentive), giving her tons of toys and Kong's with treats inside, and burying chicken wire right below the surface of the places she likes to dig... The problem is that she only does it when nobody is home to catch her in the act, making it hard to punish her immediately. She is digging up the entire backyard, one hole at a time, although usually in the same areas. Is there anything I can spray or put on the grass to prevent digging? Or any ideas on how to get her to understand that I don't approve of this behavior?
