I have a fan tailed fish approximately 10 months in age (well that's when we bought him/her) and now they appear to have a swim bladder problem. They were kept in a tank with another few fish and I noticed it (I call them an 'it' because I don't know their sex) was starting to swell in the tummy area. I thought it may have been pregnant so I have kept a close eye on it. And until a few days ago it has been fine, swimming and eating like the rest of the fish However today I have noticed definite signs of swim bladder troubles - swimming on it's side, not wanting to eat etc. However it still seems to be breathing (I can see it's gills moving) and still appears to be moving it's fins moving itself around albeit on it's side. I have isolated the fish moved it into another smaller tank with shallow water with a little salt as well (as per the suggestions of other users on here) and I am in the middle of thawing out some frozen peas to see if this works too, but is there ANYTHING else I can do to help my fish survive? I hope because of noticing this problem early on I may have helped it's chances or survival a little more, I have already lost 1 fancy goldfish to swim bladder problems (before I purchased this fish) XX
