The best way to lose fat is to eat healthier. Cutting out junk food, soda, and foods that are bad for your body will make you drastically lose weight, people just often cheat, and don't have the right mindset. You should eat smaller meals throughout the day (5-6), taking in fewer calories. Drink plenty of water. Pick your foods that are fresh, and not frozen/preserved.
Diet should be done in conjunction with exercise, focusing particularly on cardio (running, biking, hiking, jump rope, elliptical, walking, swimming). The best form of cardio is one that you will enjoy.
Also it would be a good idea to mix in weight training. Weight training burns calories, as well as adds muscle which will help you burn fat faster.
