I have a friend with asperger's syndrome and apparently i'm the only one he laughs around, yet I rarely hear him laugh. He smiles a lot when i make a face at him during class or something, but it's very difficult to make him laugh. When he does laugh, he cracks up, and it really brightens my day, but usually when he laughs. it's at a really really corny joke. sometimes at lunch he will sit at a table with a bunch of kids and throughout lunch we make humorous conversation and at some points we'll be cracking up and i look over at him and he's just sitting there with a stolid expression, he doesn't laugh the whole lunch. I guess his humor is just less advanced than ours, but i don't know how to make him laugh! Once, one of my friends said "hey, what was tigger doing in the bathroom?" and my AS friend said, "what?" and my friend said "looking for pooh!!" and my AS friend didnt stop laughing for like 2 minutes, it was amazing. I never really know what will make him laugh and what won't, but i know that a lot of corny jokes make him laugh, but i can never find the right ones. One time i said "hey, what did the farmer say when he couldn't find his truck?", "what?", "where'd my truck go!?" (the corniest one i could find) and he just said "i dont get it" (he didnt understand that the humor was in the lack of a punch line i guess). Sometimes he laughs at things i say even though i wasnt expecting him to laugh; i think really un-classy jokes make him laugh because he loves south park, family guy, and crazy steve, and i think accents make him laugh although i've only tested that once (though it was a success). Any ideas?

Puns. They like puns; wordplay ... they can't get situational things bcs they don't have situational awareness; they don't know or think about what is SUPPOSED to happen in any one situation, so when it does or doesn't happen, they don't have the feelings ppl do. They don't understand "false belief." They can't name "expectations" for any situation.
