Even if I'm acting out something serious, I feel very insecure and start laughing. Even if I know I'm doing well and I am in character. How van I gain more confidence and stop laughing?

Well, you already named the answer: gain more confidence. Confidence comes w/ experience. The mroe you practice the better you get, the less you laugh. But mostly its just a matter of focus. For example, if you're in a scene where your sister just died....LITERALLY your sister JUST DIED!!! Would you be laughing?? Would any part of your body or soul have any inclination to even crack a smile?!! My guess is HECK NO! :) If you're really in the moment you wont be laughing. So focusing more will naturally solve the problem. When you catch yourself smiling/laughing those are moments when you're either aware of the audience or you're viewing the scene outside of yourself like you were in the audience judging it. Make sense?? So every time you catch yourself in those moments listen to your scene partener more closely. If you listen harder you'll most likely be pulled more into the moment and laughing/smiling won't even come into play. I really hope this helps. God bless and stick with it! It'll get better!! :0)
