Last year I got a minor traffic ticket in LA and paid the bail and requested a court date since I have a perfect driving record and knew it would be dismissed in court. Unfortunately, I unexpectedly had to move to the East Coast before I could appear. I thought that my bail would just be forfeit and a guilty plead entered - Wrong! They raised the bail and issued me an FTA. I cannot afford to travel back to LA to enter a guilty plea, nor can I afford to pay the increased bail. (I no longer care about getting a point on my record by entering a guilty plea if I have to)
So, what can I do to take care of this without paying or traveling? The LA court doesn't even answer phone calls, so I cannot even ask anyone.Can I request trial by declaration after an FTA has been issued?
